Q: Do I need to have Pilates experience to enroll?

A: Yes. We recommend that trainees have completed at least 100 Pilates classes prior to enrolling in the program. A strong personal practice helps students better understand Pilates movement, terminology, flow, and body awareness before learning how to teach others.

Our training is designed for dedicated Pilates students who are ready to deepen their knowledge and transition into teaching with confidence.

    Q: What if I haven’t taken 100 classes yet?

A: If you’re serious about becoming a Pilates instructor and are dedicated to the practice but havn’t reached 100 classes yet — please contact us directly to discuss further.

We encourage prospective trainees to continue building their personal Pilates practice. Developing consistency as a student creates a stronger foundation for becoming an effective and confident instructor.

Q: Do I need prior teaching experience to enroll?

A: No, prior teaching experience is not required. Our program is designed to support aspiring instructors by providing guidance on how to confidently teach both group Pilates classes and one-on-one sessions.

Q: What’s the difference between the 200-Hour and 500-Hour programs?

A: Our 200-Hour Foundations, Mat & Reformer Certification is ideal for students who want to begin teaching Mat and Reformer Pilates while building a strong educational foundation.

Our 500-Hour Comprehensive Certification is a full Pilates education that includes Mat, Reformer, Cadillac/Trapeze Table, Chair, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, anatomy, biomechanics, teaching practice, and advanced programming. Graduates are eligible to sit for the NPCP exam upon completion.

Q: How long does the program take to complete?

A: The in-studio intensive weekends are completed over several weekends, while observation, practice teaching, self-practice, and additional coursework is required to obtain your certification. The time it takes to complete the program in full depends on your dedication to putting in the hours/ work to complete all requirements. You will have up to 1 year from the start date of your training to complete all requirements in order to receive your certification.

Q: Is there coursework outside of the in-person lecture hours?

A: Yes. This is a self-led program, and trainees are expected to complete projects, assignments, self-practice, observation hours, and practice teaching outside of the scheduled in-person lecture weekends. Q: What if I’ve only taken Pilates classes and never taught fitness before?

A: That’s completely okay. Many successful Pilates instructors began as students first. Our program is designed to teach you how to break down movement, communicate effectively, and confidently lead classes from the ground up.

Q: Will I be ready to teach after graduation?

A: Our goal is for every graduate to leave feeling prepared, supported, and confident teaching Pilates classes. Through hands-on mentorship, guided practice teaching, and comprehensive education, you’ll develop the skills needed to begin teaching in studio settings.

    Q: Are payment plans available?

A: Payment plans are available upon request. A deposit is required to reserve your spot, and all tuition must be paid before the due date for your training group.

Q: How many students are accepted into each training?

A: We intentionally keep our training groups limited to create a more personalized learning experience with hands-on mentorship, individualized feedback, and a strong sense of community. You can expect to train with a small group no more than 12 trainees.

Q: What if I’m nervous about teaching?

A: That’s normal — and incredibly common. Our training is designed to help you gradually build confidence through guided teaching practice, mentorship, repetition, and support from experienced instructors and fellow trainees.

    Q: Can this become a full-time career?

A: Absolutely. Many Pilates instructors go on to teach part-time, full-time, privately, or within studio settings. Pilates continues to grow rapidly in the wellness and fitness industry, creating opportunities for knowledgeable, well-trained instructors.

Q: What happens if I miss a training weekend?

A: Attendance is mandatory for all in-person training weekends, as each session builds on previous material. If a trainee must miss a weekend due to commitments previously discussed, an emergency or unavoidable circumstance, makeup options and additional requirements may be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Can I teach at any studio with this certification?

A: Certification requirements vary by country and studio. Our comprehensive training provides a strong educational foundation, and graduates who complete the 500-hour program are eligible to sit for the NPCP exam, which is nationally recognized.

Q: Will I be hired at Arizona Pilates Stdio after training?

A: Completion of the program does not guarantee employment at Arizona Pilates Studio. Hiring opportunities are based on studio needs at the time, instructor availability, and each trainee’s professionalism, growth, teaching ability, and performance throughout the training program.

We are committed to supporting trainees in their development and may offer audition, apprenticeship, substitute, or teaching opportunities to trainees who demonstrate strong potential and align with our studio values and teaching standards.

Q: What should I bring to training weekends?

A: Trainees should wear comfortable workout clothing, grip socks, water, note-taking materials, snacks and their training manuals (manuals will be provided during training).

Q: What is the NPCP exam?

A: The National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) exam is a nationally recognized certification exam for Pilates instructors. Graduates of approved comprehensive programs may sit for the exam to earn a respected third-party Pilates certification credential.

Q: Can I start with the 200-hour and later upgrade to the 500-hour?

A: Yes. You may begin with the 200-hour Foundations program and later continue into the full 500-hour Comprehensive Certification program to expand your education and teaching opportunities.
